I am the Marketing Communications officer at Campbell Scientific Canada (CSC). CSC develops and sells research-grade environmental monitoring instrumentation and data acquisition systems. Our main clients are often government agencies, universities/researchers, and companies requiring weather monitoring systems. I create all of the marketing material, manage the website content, and handle the social media platforms for the company.
ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes difficult to market in the scientific industry because typical sales and marketing approaches are often lost on these clients. Research or proof based material often works much better as a sales tool (i.e. case studies, white papers). So creating useful content is very important. How do we distribute the content and get in front of the right people?
We are only using social media (FB, Twitter, and LinkedIn) minimally and would like to learn more about how we can leverage these sites. What type of content is best and how do we share it? How do we get the content seen by the right people? How can we increase our following?
We don't currently do any blogging but we are striving to write more articles and turn our case studies into blog articles. So I'm hoping to learn more about blogging, creating well-crafted articles, and what's the best way to distribute articles through the appropriate channels to ensure it's found by the right people.
Thanks for sharing Raina. And thanks for sharing what you hope to get out of the course. I'll keep that in mind, especially the bit about not yet blogging.
DeleteThanks Diane. Yes, you're right, I did ask if everyone would author a post (rather than a comment) so that we can all practise our skills here before embarking on your own blogs when we meet in class. No need to repeat though if you don't feel like it, you are free to add another post about something pertinent to the class instead. Not just Diane btw, anyone can add posts to the blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, I left you a comment in moodle. I'm hoping you'll post your intro here on our class blog.
